About Us

Insight Collaborative was created to provide thoughtful, neuroaffirming and relationship-based support for children, young people and the people around them.

We understand that when a child or young person is struggling, families, carers, educators and support teams are often carrying a lot too. At Insight Collaborative, we aim to bring compassion, clarity and practical support to those moments, working alongside the important people in a person’s life to better understand what is happening and what may help.

Our work is grounded in the belief that behaviour is communication. Rather than viewing behaviour as something to manage, we seek to understand the unmet need, nervous system response, environmental stress, sensory load or relational challenge sitting beneath it. From there, we help build supports that are respectful, realistic and sustainable.

Insight Collaborative offers support and family-centred services that are trauma-aware, collaborative and tailored to the individual. While the term behaviour support is often associated with compliance-based or behaviourist approaches, that is not the lens we use. Our practice is grounded in neuroscience, relational safety and evidence-based approaches that seek to understand the whole person, not simply change observable behaviour. We do not use punitive, compliance-driven or behaviourist methods. Instead, we focus on reducing distress, increasing felt safety, supporting regulation and creating environments where people can thrive.

Insight Collaborative has a particular interest in supporting autistic children and young people, including those with a PDA profile. We recognise that these experiences are often misunderstood and that supports which rely on control, rewards, consequences or demands can increase stress and lead to further distress. Our approach honours nervous system needs, autonomy, sensory experiences and individual ways of communicating and engaging with the world.

We work with children, adolescents and families across home, school and community settings. We also collaborate closely with educators, therapists, support workers and other professionals to help create more consistent, compassionate and supportive environments around the person.

Our approach is guided by curiosity, compassion and collaboration.

We take time to listen, build trust and understand the whole person, not just the challenges that may have prompted a referral. We look at patterns, environments, relationships, regulation, communication, sensory experiences and stress responses to help make sense of what is going on.

Drawing on neuroscience and evidence-based practice, we work alongside families and teams to develop practical supports that reduce distress, build capacity and improve quality of life. Our aim is not to force compliance, but to create conditions in which safety, trust, connection and meaningful participation can grow.

Insight Collaborative supports children, young people and families, as well as the broader teams around them, including schools, carers, allied health professionals and support providers.

We have a particular interest in working with autistic young people and those with a PDA profile, alongside families and teams seeking more affirming, respectful and effective ways of understanding and providing support.

Our vision is to create spaces where children and young people feel understood, supported and safe to be themselves and where the adults around them feel empowered with the knowledge and tools to support them well.
